Fast forward a few years and I am in Bangkok, Thailand. I have taken the gleaming white tuktuk to my grandson’s nursery school. The children arrive in batches, little boys in light blue cotton shirts and dark shorts, girls in red and white gingham checked dresses. They gather in the shady astroturfed yard for the whole school Morning Meeting, sharing birthdays, school news, raising the red white and blue striped Thai flag, and a song. And what do I hear? You guessed it- on the other side of the world they are singing…

How does a song become a classic?  I don’t really know. But if it makes so many people happy, I think that’s a start.
