Change of Plans

After a long hard spell and I know she had a hard day yesterday, my adult daughter texts:

Do you wanna walk with me to
Chloe’s to take a stroll around
The block with the twins?

Sure, but would you rather just
                                                          Be with Chloe?

Also, you haven’t met the
Twins!

ETA is!

                                                        Leaving now- maybe 4:45? I’ll
                                                        Park and call.

Ok

                                                      I’m here.

Thank you mom ❤

                                                    Love you dearly.

When your child wants you, you go. Ditched my expectations for the day.
Walked in the sun. Saw her best friend and her seven week old twins.
Strolled around the city in this surprisingly warm pre-spring day, warm breeze,
pushing the big double stroller.
Things are still really hard for the new-mother friend.
Things are still really hard for my daughter.
But things are better for all of us.
Thanks to my daughter for her wisdom. And for wanting me.

  1. Loved this slice!! The text messages back and forth are very well done, and it is clear that your daughter really needs her mama. And how great that you dropped everything and went – the best gift you can give and so important in maintaining that close mother-daughter bond. Confirmed by this morning’s text.
(I looked for your post before I went to bed last night and figured something was up.)
